SB466 Goes Into Effect March 31st:
Tenant-Landlord Laws Confusing At Best
In one of the last acts of the session, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed SB466 (final 2011 Act 143 here) on Friday, March 16. The governor signed it on March 21, 2012. The bill becomes law on March 31st. We are in the process of changing all our materials and website content and you will see things struck out or bolded and in red to indicate changes that are a result of SB466. Updates should be complete by the end of the day April 2nd.
- A summary of the changes is here. However, please note, what the laws actually mean is in question and may need to be sorted out in the courts. Additionally, the laws are complicated by varying implementation dates and modified by what you have in your lease. Please call us to find out your rights and before you sign any new leases.
For more information, see the Wisconsin Alliance for Tenants' Rights.
